Covid-19 helpline numbers of Indian Embassy Doha – Do not communicate on this for repatriation related queries

Embassy of India Doha tweeted an update on its official twitter handle regarding Covid-19 helpline numbers of Indian Embassy. It has announced that, Indian Embassy will have two mobile numbers (55647502 and 55667569) exclusively for Covid-19 helpline. Queries will be answered only by WhatsApp / SMS.

The Embassy informed that these 2 Covid-19 helpline numbers are meant only for providing food and medical assitance. Also requested not to communicate on these numbers for repatriation and consular service related queries.

Indian ambassador to Qatar H.E. Mr. P. Kumaran has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore

Embassy of India Doha on its official twitter handle today tweeted that, Indian Ambassador to Qatar Shri Periasamy Kumaran has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Singapore. He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Indian Ambassador HE P Kumaran, took charge in 2016 and has proved to a popular envoy among the Indians in Qatar.

QatarIndians.com team wishing him all the best for his new assignment and sure he will be missed by the Indian community in Qatar.

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has appointed new ambassador to Qatar. In a statement published on their website Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that Dr. Deepak Mittal will be the new envoy to Qatar and he is expected to take charge in few weeks.

List of repatriation flights to India from Doha for the ongoing Phase-2: 29-May to 04-June 2020

Embassy of India Doha in a recent tweet shared a list of flights scheduled to leave Doha to various Indian cities for the ongoing phase-2. Flights to Kannur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Srinagar / Amristar, Chennai, Thiruvanathapuram and Lucknow are scheduled from Doha between 29th May to 4th June 2020.

Under the Vande Bharat Mission, Indians living abroad are being repatriated back from many countries including Qatar. Phase-2 of repatriation is in progress and as on 25th May 2020, 9 flights from Doha has left to India carrying 1520 passengers from Qatar, plus 45 infants.

On 22-May, Indian Embassy Doha has tweeted a tentative list of destinations approved for the next round of repatriation flights from Qatar after the Eid holidays.

16000 will also continue to provide a 24/7 call centre service for all enquiries in relation to the COVID-19.

Embassy of India, Doha on a recent tweet urges Indian nationals who wish to register for repatriation before it is closed. Also advises not to send repeated emails to the Indian Embassy without registering through the form available on the Indian Embassy Website (Datasheet to be filled by those seeking repatriation to India)

Indian Embassy tweets, “Please register on the Embassy website for repatriation if you haven’t already done so, before it is closed. Data in the indicated format is required for approval of your request

How Indians in the State of Qatar register for repatriation?

Please visit Indian Embassy website and click on the registration link to submit repatriation request

What all details you need to provide to complete the registration?

  • Choose the destination of your flight (Destination should be within your state)
  • Personal details which includes Age, Gender, Passport Information, Email, Address, Visa Type and Contact number

Choose the reason for requesting repatriation (Choose from one of the below)

  • Medical emergency/Terminal illness
  • Death of a Family Member in India
  • Deportation by Foreign government
  • Migrant Worker laid off
  • Expiry of Short-Term Visa
  • Stranded Tourist/Visitor
  • Stranded Students
  • Pregnant Woman
  • Senior Citizen

Also you need to confirm your COVID test status if it is done or choose not done.

Tentative destinations for the next round of repatriation flights from Qatar | Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow & Amritsar

The official twitter page of Embassy of India Doha in a recent tweet stated that, Indian Embassy in Qatar have an indicative list of destinations approved for the next round of repatriation flights from Qatar after the Eid holidays.

As per the tweet, destinations approved (indicative) for the next round of repatriation flights from Qatar are Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow & Amritsar. However, it states that further details are awaited from Delhi.

The Indian government under the Vande Bharat Mission has been bringing back stranded Indians from many countries including Qatar in phases. So far 8 flights carrying 1374 passengers plus 45 infants from Qatar has been repatriated to India.

IndiGo to operate 28 repatriation flights between Kerala and Doha | Vande Bharat Mission

IndiGo, India’s commercial passenger airline has been authorized to operate 28 repatriation flights between Kerala and Doha. The Indian government under the Vande Bharat Mission has been bringing back Indians in Air India flights from abroad in phases. As a part of that, IndiGo has been authorized to operate 97 repatriation flights to Kerala which includes 28 flights between Kerala and Doha.

IndiGo chief executive officer Ronojoy Dutta said, ‘We had expressed eagerness to support Indian government’s repatriation efforts from the Middle-East. We are grateful for the approval to operate flights to four countries to bring back our fellow citizens, who are either stranded due to suspension of operations or have registered to fly back owing to the economic landscape.

‘These special flights offer an opportunity to leverage our network strength in the Middle-East to support the nation at this crucial time. IndiGo will continue to contribute and adapt its business to the needs of the hour.

IndiGo has been granted 180 repatriation flights allotted to bring back the stranded Indians aborad, an official statement released by IndiGo. However, IndiGo did not state any schedule in terms of when the repatriation flights from Kerala to Doha and other regions will start.

Apart from this, Air India will continue to operate flights under the Vande Bharat Mission to fly back the stranded Indians abroad. So far 13,000 Indians has been brought back to India under the Vande Bharat Mission, stated Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
